‘Ministry of Economy Holds Working Visit to SEDIA along with Review of Implementation of the People’s Income Initiative’
Kota Kinabalu — The Deputy Minister of Economy, YB Dato’ Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib held a working visit to the SEDIA office together with several Ministry of Economy officials. The working visit on 11 May 2024 was warmly received by SEDIA Chief Executive YBhg. Datuk Seri Panglima Hashim bin Paijan along with members of SEDIA management and officers.
The main objective of this visit was to obtain information on the latest updates of SDC projects and the current work by SEDIA, which is one of the Regional Economic Corridor Authorities under the Ministry of Economy.
This was followed the following day with the Deputy Minister and ministry officials visiting the Sapangar branch of UiTM Sabah, along with YBhg. Datuk Seri Panglima Hashim bin Paijan and SEDIA officers. The purpose of this visit was to meet and have an experience-sharing session with participants of the People’s Income Initiative (IPR) for the Food Entrepreneur Initiative (INSAN) category.
The delegation from the Economy Ministry inspected the vending machines located at Manukan College and Mantanani College, UiTM. The delegation then received a short briefing by Mr. Arizhal Manis who is the Sabah IPR-BMT Chief Field Officer for IPR implementation.
The People’s Income Initiative (IPR) — which includes three models namely INSAN, INTAN and IKHSAN — was launched on 26 February 2023. The Ministry of Economy targets these initiatives at the extreme poor households and the B40 group, in an effort to increase the people’s income through additional sources of income in line with the rising cost of living.
With this initiative under the Ministry of Economy, it is expected to be able to increase employment opportunities for the people in addition to achieving the government’s goal, which is to reduce the income gap between the people in urban and rural areas, and eradicate extreme poverty in Malaysia.
‘Kementerian Ekonomi Adakan Lawatan Kerja ke SEDIA Berserta Tinjauan Pelaksanaan Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat (IPR)’
Kota Kinabalu — Timbalan Menteri Ekonomi, YB Dato’ Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib mengadakan lawatan kerja ke pejabat SEDIA bersama-sama dengan beberapa pegawai Kementerian Ekonomi. Lawatan kerja pada 11 Mei 2024 itu disambut dengan mesra oleh YBhg. Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hashim bin Paijan, Ketua Eksekutif SEDIA, pihak pengurusan serta pegawai-pegawai SEDIA.
Matlamat utama lawatan kerja ini adalah bertujuan untuk mendapatkan penerangan mengenai perkembangan terkini projek-projek Pembangunan Koridor Sabah dan pengurusan kerja semasa di SEDIA yang merupakan salah satu agensi Pihak Berkuasa Koridor Ekonomi Wilayah di bawah Kementerian Ekonomi.
Pada hari berikutnya, YB Timbalan Menteri dan pegawai-pegawai Kementerian Ekonomi bersama-sama dengan YBhg. Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hashim bin Paijan dan beberapa pegawai SEDIA telah mengadakan lawatan ke UITM Sabah Cawangan Sapangar. Tujuan lawatan ini adalah untuk bertemu dan mendengar perkongsian pengalaman daripada peserta-peserta Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat (IPR) bagi kategori Inisiatif Usahawan Makanan (INSAN).
Rombongan Timbalan Menteri Ekonomi seterusnya membuat tinjauan ke mesin layan diri (vending machine) yang ditempatkan di Kolej Manukan dan Kolej Mantani, UiTM. Taklimat ringkas turut diberikan berkenaan pelaksanaan IPR oleh Encik Arizhal Manis selaku Ketua Pegawai Lapangan IPR-BMT Negeri Sabah.
Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat (IPR) yang merangkumi tiga model iaitu INSAN, INTAN dan Inisiatif Operator Perkhidmatan (IKHSAN) telah dilancarkan pada 26 Februari 2023. Kementerian Ekonomi menyasarkan inisiatif ini kepada isi rumah miskin tegar dan golongan B40 dalam usaha meningkatkan pendapatan rakyat melalui sumber pendapatan sampingan sejajar dengan kos sara hidup yang semakin tinggi.
Dengan adanya inisiatif dibawah Kementerian Ekonomi ini dijangka akan dapat meningkatkan peluang pekerjaan kepada rakyat disamping mencapai matlamat kerajaan untuk mengurangkan jurang pendapatan rakyat di bandar dan luar bandar serta membasmi kemiskinan tegar di Malaysia.
