The Sabah SME-SMI development fund is provided for capacity building and business financing of Bumiputera entrepreneurs, while the SEDIA bumiputera SME incubator programme is designed to encourage the creation of new entrepreneurs especially in knowledge-intensive sectors; meant to create greater awareness of business opportunities as well as facilitate access to business support and shared services. Many of the business incubatees had registered for SDC entrepreneurship development programmes during the Gerak IKS SDC roadshow programme that had been held throughout 2016 up until early 2017. The roadshow, which had reached out to over 8,000 people during stops at Kimanis Sipitang, Sandakan, Kota Marudu, Tambunan and Tawau, had comprised of talks covering various topics relating to industry opportunities and business assistance, business matching opportunities, and advisory services by government agencies.
