The Chief Minister will also witness the handing over of TERAJU Facilitation Fund approval letters to several recipients, handover of payment cheques to implementers of TERAJU@SDC facilitation fund projects, as well as the handover ceremony for the Letters of Approval for SAIP-SEDIA Incubator programme financing through the Sabah SME-SMI Development Fund.
Promotion of the Sabah SME/SMI development fund will be a key aspect of the Gerak IKS SDC 2016 roadshow, which had been announced by the Prime Minister during the Budget Speech 2015. SEDIA and TERAJU had formalised collaboration for expediting the fund through an agreement signed in August 2015, and have begun implementing entrepreneurship development programmes for Bumiputera SMEs and start-ups.
Response to the event has thus far been very positive. Over 500 participants have registered for the talks, while exhibition and booth registrations have exceeded the initial 60 units expected . The talks will cover various industry opportunities and business assistance topics, while the mini exhibition will display the products of entrepreneurs and start-ups, including those developed under the SAIP business incubator programme.
The roadshow is also organised in partnership with local authorities, State and Federal agencies, and chambers of commerce. The Gerak IKS SDC2016 endeavours to disseminate and share information regarding entrepreneurship development programmes that are made available through SEDIA, TERAJU and other participating agencies in Sabah.
Throughout the roadshow, several demonstration activities will also be held including the production of soap, compost, the extraction of tea tree essential oils, virgin coconut oil processing, plant tissue culture, and greenhouse system-drip irrigation. Participants will also have the opportunity to register for SEDIA and TERAJU incubator programmes. These programmes will complement existing TERAS and Facilitation grants under TERAJU@SDC which have been implemented in the SDC under the joint supervision of SEDIA and TERAJU. The roadshow is open to the general public, and all interested start-ups, SMEs, Bumiputera and rural entrepreneurs are invited to attend.
